KwaZulu-Natal is home to the Zulu people and lies in the south east of South Africa. It is one of the nine regions of the country, bordered to the east by the Indian Ocean, 3 countries and 3 regions. The biggest city of KwaZulu-Natal or KZN known for short is Durban. Geographically varying between low coastal areas to undulating hilly plateaus and mountainous regions the province is very diverse. The climate is subtropical on the coast ranging to colder weather in the more mountainous areas. The infamous sardine run is an extraordinary event that takes place every autumn on the coast of KZN. The spawning of these tiny slivers of fish attracts thousands of predators and provides a huge spectacle for us humans.
